About Lisa - Meet Your Birth Educator
Hello, I'm Lisa!
I'm the founder of Connected Waves Birthing, a birth doula, antenatal educator and a mum of three.
I believe that preparing for birth is about so much more than learning what happens during labour. It's about building confidence, understanding your body, exploring your choices and feeling truly connected to yourself, your baby and your birth partner.
My approach brings together evidence-based education, practical birth preparation and the powerful mind–body connection. I want you to understand not just what might happen during birth, but why, and how you can work with your body and feel involved in the decisions along the way.
Whether you're hoping for a physiological birth, planning a caesarean or simply keeping an open mind, my workshops are designed to help you feel informed, supported and prepared for whatever path your birth takes.
Expect a relaxed, welcoming space where no question is too small, there's plenty of opportunity to practise techniques together and you can feel comfortable being yourselves.
My hope is that you leave feeling calmer, more confident and genuinely excited about meeting your baby.
I can't wait to meet you!

So Much More Than an Antenatal Class
Everything you need to feel informed, confident, connected and truly prepared for birth and beyond.
Preparing for your baby's arrival is about so much more than knowing the stages of labour.
It's about understanding your body, feeling confident in your choices, knowing how to navigate the unexpected and having the right people and tools around you.
Our full-day antenatal workshop brings together evidence-based education, hands-on preparation, relaxation techniques and a wonderful community of support.
And the experience doesn't end when you walk out the door!
Here's what's included in your day
A Complete Day of Birth Preparation
Six hours of interactive, holistic antenatal education, thoughtfully designed to help you and your birth partner feel genuinely prepared.
We'll explore everything from the physiology of birth and the mind–body connection to practical comfort measures, medical options, informed decision-making, postnatal recovery and life with your newborn.
Expect real conversations, hands-on activities, plenty of opportunities to ask questions and a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Your Birth Partner's Toolkit
Birth partners, this one's for you too!
You'll learn how to be an active, confident and genuinely helpful part of the birth experience.
We'll practise hands-on techniques including massage, counterpressure, positioning, breathing support and other comfort measures.
You'll also explore how to recognise what your partner needs, create a calm and supportive birth environment, communicate effectively with maternity professionals and help ensure your partner's preferences and voice are heard.
Because a confident, informed birth partner can make a world of difference.
Your Beautiful Birth Preparation Workbook
You'll receive your own thoughtfully designed workbook to use throughout the day and take home afterwards.
Inside, you'll find space for reflection, practical exercises, helpful prompts, birth preferences, partner preparation activities and key information to revisit as your baby's arrival approaches.
A resource to keep coming back to, not something that gathers dust in a drawer!
Your Digital Birth Preparation Library
Your learning doesn't stop at the end of the workshop.
You'll have access to a collection of downloadable resources, including practical guides, checklists, birth planning tools and helpful information for pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period.
Everything is designed to help you feel organised, supported and confident as you put your preparation into practice.
Relaxation, Meditation & Visualisation Audio Tracks
You'll receive a collection of calming audio tracks to help you continue practising at home.
From guided visualisations and meditation to breathing and relaxation exercises, these recordings are designed to support a calmer mindset, build familiarity with relaxation techniques and help you reconnect with your body and baby.
Perfect for winding down before bed, taking a quiet moment during pregnancy or drawing on during labour.
A Thoughtful Goodie Bag
Who doesn't love a little treat?
You'll leave with a carefully curated goodie bag featuring useful pregnancy and birth-related treats, thoughtful extras and a few lovely surprises.
A little something to help you feel nurtured and celebrated as you prepare for this next chapter.
Exclusive Offers From Local Businesses
You'll also receive access to a selection of special offers and discounts from local businesses supporting pregnancy, parenthood and wellbeing.
Think pregnancy massage, pregnancy yoga, photography, postnatal wellbeing and other wonderful local services.
A lovely way to discover and support businesses within our East Lothian community.
Find Your Village - Local Support & Resources
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we couldn't agree more.
You'll receive a carefully curated guide to local pregnancy, birth and postnatal resources across East Lothian and the surrounding area.
From breastfeeding support and baby groups to pelvic health specialists, parent wellbeing services and local community activities, you'll have a starting point for building your own support network.
Because feeling supported shouldn't stop when your baby arrives.
Connection With Other Expectant Parents
One of the loveliest parts of group antenatal education is meeting others who are preparing for the same exciting chapter.
With a limited number of couples per workshop, there's plenty of space to chat, share experiences, ask questions and make genuine connections.
You might even meet the people who become your future coffee companions, buggy-walking buddies or 3am WhatsApp lifelines!
Our hope is that you leave not only with knowledge and practical tools, but with the beginnings of your own little village.
A Day Designed Around You
This isn't about teaching you the 'right' way to give birth.
It's about giving you the knowledge, tools and confidence to make informed choices, understand your options and feel supported whatever direction your birth takes.
Whether you're hoping for a physiological birth, planning a caesarean or keeping an open mind, you'll leave with practical skills, a more confident birth partner and resources you can return to again and again.
Testimonials - Kind Words From Families I’ve supported
“Lisa is so passionate about her job in supporting women to feel empowered about themselves and their baby through pregnancy, during birth and postpartum. Lisa is a book of knowledge and no question is too silly…I had a lot of questions!!. She has a calm, kind, fun personality which shines through.”
Antenatal education client
I took Lisa’s ‘Connected waves online antenatal class’ and by the end of 5 modules, I was so much more confident as a mum to be and the birth of my baby. I also put together a pretty awesome and empowering birth plan with the help of Lisa.
Antenatal education client
“We have been reflecting and processing the birth and we both mentioned how crucial you were for us in that space, we couldn’t have done it without you and I genuinely don’t think I would have had the same positive outcomes/perspective without your support in the lead up, during and post birth. Forever grateful for you.”

Frequently Asked Questions

I generally recommend attending between 12 and 36 weeks of pregnancy, although you're very welcome at any stage. Ideally, you'll have enough time afterwards to reflect on what you've learned, practise the techniques and prepare for your baby's arrival.
-
Absolutely! The workshop is designed to give you a thorough understanding of birth and the early postnatal period, whether this is your first baby or you'd simply like to feel more informed and prepared this time around.
-
You're very welcome. This workshop isn't about preparing for one particular type of birth. We'll explore physiological birth, interventions, caesarean birth and the different options available to you, so you can feel informed and involved whatever your circumstances.
-
I'd really encourage it! Birth partners play such an important role, and throughout the day we'll explore practical ways they can offer physical and emotional support, communicate your preferences and feel confident in their own role.
Your workshop booking includes two people.

You're very welcome to attend on your own or bring someone else who will be supporting you, whether that's a friend, family member or another trusted person.

There'll be plenty of opportunities for questions, discussion and hands-on practice.
-
Of course! We'll have regular comfort breaks and time for lunch. You're welcome to bring nutritious snacks to share with the group, move around, stretch and take a break whenever you need to.
